Reproduced under license from the Canadian Museum of History, this box was originally carved by the great Haida artist John Robson, stepfather of the legendary Charles Edenshaw. It is a fine example of the type of Victorian chest that the Haida specialized in during the latter part of the 18th century. Made of a crushed black marble composite to simulate argillite this box has an embedded pewter medallion to authenticate the museum reproduction.
